The New Conservative

For as long as I could remember it always seemed that the struggle in Washington was a struggle between big and small governmental ideologies, until the infamous day in New York and Washington DC. Now when I see the politicians on the TV all I hear is bigger government, more control over its citizens, and it’s coming from both sides. The reason for this change is to support a sense of security to the American People, right? Then why is it that we can’t seem to agree to put a fence on our borders and station troops there to protect them. Everyone says it will cost too much. Well how much would it cost? It would have to be cheaper than the billions upon billions of dollars that we are spending on a foreign mission to save the world from itself. And why is the Coast Guard and the National Guard serving in foreign wars when they are the last line of defense that the United States has to a foreign aggressor to our home shores and lands? And why are we administering a clearly destructive plan to the economic stability in the form of the North American Free Trade Agreement? We have learned time and time again that opening up trade to the whole world including the most communist of countries, has put us in a position where AMERICAN businesses suffer because they can’t make things as cheep as a Communist Chinese SWEATSHOP! Of course the brand is still an American name that you recognize, but they don’t tell you about all the plants they shut down in the US and moved them to Singapore, China, or Mexico. We as a country spawned this great power, greater than any government in the world, corporations. Now they have left to conquer the world and poor tons more money into the pockets of the already the world’s most powerful and richest men. This is our environment, this is what we are living today.

With all this going on, and I am only scratching the surface now, what do we as conservatives do? Do we take on this great problem with both hands, wrestle it to the ground and overthrow it. No, in today’s world conservatives go along with it! But what would a real conservative do, what would a real rightist do? Good question. But to answer that question there must be and understanding of what the real conservative was. Ideally speaking of course, I always envisioned a person that stood for following along with what the US Constitution stipulates to its literal and purest meaning. I always thought it was a person that believed small government is the right way and the ways of our forefathers. The US Constitution, Bill of Rights, and the Declaration of Independence are the documents that tell the world that this is a Free Society where the government is not your enemy, where you have rights. We became the sparkle in the eye of the world we became this great inspiration to the entire world that they can be free. We, the early Americans stood against the most powerful Empire in the whole of the world, England. We defeated them and showed the world that is possible to get rid of tyranny.

I believed a conservative, a Republican, a Righty all knew this and held onto the same beliefs of Freedom as the very men who wrote down the directions on how the run the government.

Now it has all changed, now it is different from what our forefathers created so different that what they did create, what they did establish with their courage has now become this radical idea that could never happen again, because of terrorists. Terrorists, you have to love how there is a huge difference in the public’s definition of a terrorist and the government’s definition of a terrorist. The general public believes it’s an Arab man that practices Islam, with dark skin, wears robes, and has a rag on his head. The Government defines a terrorist as anyone that disagrees with us and tries to take measures to stop us. The government is no longer run by the people! It is now run by an elite group of men that call themselves politicians, lobbyists, and lawyers, which no longer serve at the behest of the American people. It’s not just the evil democrats, it’s our boys too. Like I said both sides.

So what does a new conservative stand for, its no longer small government, its no longer securing our borders, it is no longer a dedication towards strong economic growth. So I ask again what does a new conservative stand for?

I can’t tell you, but I can tell you this, I am an old school blue blooded conservative that loves my country, so much so that I went and fought for it. I believe in the same things as the very men that had the courage to stand up against a radically out of control tyrant, sacrificing everything for FREEDOM. I miss the America that I used to dream of, the land of the free the home of the brave.
